About

This website has been set up to showcase all the creative Long Drops that are popping up around Christchurch. The earthquake disaster that occurred on 22/2/11 has been a testing time for us Cantabrians and we feel for people who have lost loved ones or property. Our thoughts are with you. During these tough times it is important to be with friends and family and still be able to have a good laugh. Hence the reason for this website. A bit of toilet humour is bound to put a smile on your face even if you’re having a crappy day!

A brilliant idea for a website. Apart from the intended purpose, also serves as a humbling reminder of how easily things we take for granted can be taken away. I hope it’s not too long before you can all poop indoors again.

You might like to add this site to your links section. Do it yourself bucket toilet with sawdust flush…..just add to the compost heap

Why send it out to sea when you can grow your own vegetables with do it yourself manure?

Great site! I live at the end of Otago peninsula and daily enjoy my permanent long drop. I have a tip for all those in ChCh for odourless outdoors conveniences – garden lime. Its all about neutralising the PH to remove the pong and handful of garden lime does that instantaneously. I hope the pleasure of outdoor experience becomes preferable to the inside windowless cubicle, where rush ‘jobs’ are the instinct (aka: inside stink). Outside one should be sure to enjoy long loud singing in ‘lieu’ of an occupied sign.

Awesome. Thanks for giving me a smile and proving once again that Kiwi’s have the No.8 wire mentality. Hoping you don’t have to use them too long and never have to use them again. Thoughts are with you all.

I hope your website gains comments and replies as funny as the funniest auctions on Trade Me – you might even be able to publish a book for Christmas if they’re really good!

This website is awesome. It really makes me real town proud, I don’t know if we’ve ever really been town proud, who knew long drops would bring this out in us? I have to mention Mum was telling me the other day that she had a dream in which she was being instructed, by my prudish realitives, how to use the long drop in the upmost modesty, it involved a towel if I remember rightly. Thanks, for this, it’s made my day.

  12. Nat says:

I love it – awesome idea!

  13. Sue says:

The photos and comments should be published in a book as a fundraiser for Christchurch – it would be a great read !!!!! :)
